Today is the first day of the rest of your life. What are you going to do with it?
When you were born you were given the book of your life. The pages were blank and had to be filled with your story. The first chapters were mostly written for you, and you may not like them much. There is however, nothing that forces you to continue the story the way it was started. It is time for you to take the pen in your hand. It is time for you to write your story. The story based on your script, not the script someone else has decided for you.
Every day you have the opportunity to re-invent yourself, to choose a new character. To work towards becoming who you want to be. To decide how you want to behave. To influence, by your actions, how people see you and what they think of you.
If you are building a house, and you build badly, you do not lay the foundation properly, you lay the bricks unevenly and out of line, your house will not pass inspection and you will have to break it down and start again.
Your life up to now may also not pass your inspection, you may be dissatisfied with who and where, you are.
To test this, ask yourself if you would be happy if your children inherited your character and reputation? Would you want people to read your story? If you were to wrap up your life would you want to give it to your dearest friend as a gift?
The magic of life is that, unlike the house you do not have to break everything down and start over. All you have to do is to decide how you are going to live from now on. How, are you going to write your story from now? In life, how you have lived up to now is not nearly as important as how you live from now.
Make that decision. Now is the time, for "Today is the first day of the rest of your life"
